Anya Taylor Joy was born in Miami Florida on 16 April 1996. Dennis Alan Taylor is a retired banker, and Jennifer Marina Joy is a psychology student. The father of her was Argentine who had Scottish and English ancestry. The mother of her is Spanish-English. Taylor Joy also has 4 siblings. One of them is in each parent's previous marriages. They lived in Buenos Aires until she was six, after which they moved to the Victoria area in London. Taylor Joy claims that her move to England was very traumatic. She was not willing to study English and hoped she could relocate back to Argentina. Hill House had to be her new school when she switched from Northlands. Then she went to Queen's Gate School and studied ballet. After 16 she quit school in order to take on acting as a profession. Taylor-Joy was born to be an actress at a young age. The realization of her dreams came when Sarah Doukas, the founder of Storm Management offered her a modelling job.
